          Early Life and Education
Academic Excellence and Military
Preparation at America’s Finest Institutions
Victoria Camire’s academic journey began with exceptional performance that earned her selection to attend the Governor School, a prestigious magnet school in Richmond, Virginia, where she immersed herself in international studies, languages, and cultural exchange programs that included overseas travel. This early exposure to global perspectives and multicultural environments perfectly prepared her for her future military assignments across multiple continents. Her academic excellence continued at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, where she engaged in a diverse array of activities that demonstrated her versatility and commitment to service.
During her undergraduate years at William and Mary, Victoria participated in Army ROTC, played rugby, served in the Persian Rifles and Queen’s Guard military organization, and even joined the dance team during her senior year to balance what she humorously described as “too many mannish things” in her life. Her decision to remain at William and Mary for law school reflected her deep connection to the institution and the small-town feel of Williamsburg. During law school, she distinguished herself as a member of the law review while continuing her physical preparation for military service by achieving a brown belt in karate. Her international legal experience began during law school with a summer internship at NATO in Brussels, where an expatriate family provided housing and she gained invaluable experience in international organizations and traveled extensively throughout Europe. Her other summer internship with the Corps of Engineers initially led her to believe government contracts would be her legal focus, though she later discovered her true passion lay elsewhere.
Military Career
A Distinguished Journey
from Hawaii to Korea
Commissioned into the Army JAG Corps in October 2008, MAJ (R) Victoria Camire began her military legal career at Fort Lee, Virginia—conveniently located near her hometown of Hopewell—before receiving her first assignment to paradise: Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Her timing was fortuitous, as she was able to join an earlier Officer Basic Course class since the Army didn’t need to relocate her for training, allowing her to begin active duty sooner than expected. Her initial assignment in Hawaii with the 25th Infantry Division provided her with comprehensive exposure to military legal practice, progressing from legal assistance through administrative law to trial counsel responsibilities.
Her two combat deployments with the 25th Infantry Division demonstrated her adaptability and commitment to service under challenging conditions. During her first deployment, she focused on legal assistance, helping soldiers navigate personal and professional legal challenges while deployed. Her second deployment elevated her responsibilities to chief of administrative law and trial counsel, where she gained the unique experience of actually trying cases downrange in Iraq through joint courts-martial—an experience that few military lawyers ever receive. These combat deployments provided her with invaluable insights into the pressures and challenges facing service members in operational environments, knowledge that would inform her advocacy throughout the remainder of her career.

From the Battlefield to the Courtroom
Mastering Both Sides of
Military Justice
MAJ (R) Victoria Camire’s transition from prosecution to defense work represents the natural evolution of an attorney dedicated to understanding military justice from every perspective. Her assignment as a Trial Defense Service attorney at Joint Base Lewis-McChord fulfilled a long-held professional goal and provided her with the opportunity to help soldiers from the defense perspective after years of prosecutorial experience. This transition gave her invaluable insights into defense strategies and tactics while maintaining her understanding of government approaches to military justice cases.
Her subsequent role as Command Judge Advocate for the 902nd Military Intelligence Group at Fort Meade elevated her to senior advisory positions, where she spent three years advising brigade commanders on complex legal matters involving counterintelligence operations worldwide. This assignment required her to navigate the intersection of operational security, intelligence law, and traditional military justice issues. Her final progression to Chief of Justice for the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood positioned her at the forefront of military justice reforms and prosecution management, giving her comprehensive oversight of military justice operations for one of the Army’s premier combat divisions. Her culminating assignment as Deputy Staff Judge Advocate in Korea demonstrated the Army’s confidence in her leadership abilities and legal expertise.
