Are Warrior Law Team Fort Bragg Military Lawyers experienced with Special Operations Command legal challenges at Fort Bragg?

Absolutely. The Warrior Law Team at the Law Office of Will M. Helixon is exceptionally well-versed in handling the unique legal challenges faced by members of the Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg. As your Fort Bragg Military Lawyers, we bring a profound depth of experience directly tied to the specialized world of special operations, ensuring that we understand the high-stakes, mission-critical environment in which you operate. Our team has collectively served for 18 years at Fort Bragg or deployed with its units, holding significant roles within the U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) and related entities, making us uniquely qualified to support warriors engaged in some of the nation’s most sensitive and complex missions.

Specifically, our Fort Bragg Military Attorneys have held pivotal positions that intersect with Special Operations Command legal issues. Cadman Kiker, who runs our Fort Bragg office from nearby Pinehurst, served as Chief of Military Justice at the U.S. Army JFK Special Warfare Center and School (USAJFKSWCS), the Army’s premier training ground for Special Forces, Civil Affairs, and Psychological Operations under USASOC. In this role, and as a de facto Deputy Staff Judge Advocate, he managed military justice for a two-star command, advised on national security and ethics, and ensured logistical support for courts-martial and adverse actions within the special operations community at Fort Bragg. His prior role as Brigade Judge Advocate for a Special Operations sustainment brigade, specifically the 528th Sustainment Brigade (Special Operations) (Airborne), further cements his expertise in navigating the legal intricacies of special operations units, advising commanders on UCMJ matters, operational law, and ethics in high-tempo, global contingency operations.

Additionally, our team members have served in critical roles directly supporting USASOC and its subordinate commands. Our attorneys have also served as Deputy Staff Judge Advocate (SJA) for USAJFKSWCS and the U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command (USASOAC), overseeing legal operations for specialized aviation and training missions integral to special operations. Kyle Meisner, with over 27 years of military service, served as Deputy Command Judge Advocate for USASOAC at Fort Bragg, providing strategic legal guidance for aviation support to special operations forces and ensuring compliance with military law in highly sensitive contexts. Her background as an enlisted paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division adds a ground-level understanding of the operational pressures faced by special operations personnel.

Our Warrior Law Team’s experience with the 1st Special Forces Command (1st SFC) within the 528th Sustainment Brigade (Special Operations) (Airborne) at Fort Bragg further demonstrates our capability to address legal challenges unique to special operations. We’ve advised on matters ranging from counterterrorism operations to complex administrative actions, understanding the delicate balance between operational effectiveness and legal compliance in austere, high-risk environments. Cadman Kiker’s reputation as one of the top JAG officers in Army special operations underscores our ability to translate intricate legal challenges into actionable solutions, whether it’s defending against career-threatening investigations or navigating national security law issues specific to special operations missions.

The legal landscape of Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg frequently involves classified operations, rapid deployments, and unique ethical dilemmas that are not encountered in conventional units. Our Fort Bragg Military Lawyers have tackled these challenges head-on, with roles that include advising on real-time operational law during combat deployments (as seen in Cadman Kiker’s service in Iraq and Syria, providing legal guidance on lethal strikes) and managing military justice for special operations training and readiness at USAJFKSWCS. This insider knowledge enables us to defend you against allegations related to operational misconduct, security clearance disputes, or administrative separations that disproportionately affect special operations personnel due to their high-visibility roles.

When your career, reputation, or freedom is on the line within the Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, you need a legal team that doesn’t just know the law but lives the special operations ethos. Are the Warrior Law Team Fort Bragg Military Lawyers familiar with 82nd Airborne Division disciplinary matters?

Without a doubt. The Fort Bragg Military Lawyers at the Law Office of Will M. Helixon possess extensive and intimate familiarity with disciplinary matters specific to the 82nd Airborne Division, one of Fort Bragg’s most iconic and celebrated units. With 18 combined years of service at Fort Bragg or deployed with its units, our Warrior Law Team has directly engaged with the unique challenges faced by the “All American” Division, renowned for its rapid deployment capabilities and storied history of airborne operations. Our deep-rooted experience within the 82nd Airborne Division, coupled with our comprehensive legal expertise, makes us uniquely qualified to defend paratroopers facing disciplinary actions, ensuring your career and honor are protected with the same tenacity you bring to the mission.

Our Fort Bragg Military Lawyers have served in critical roles directly tied to the 82nd Airborne Division, providing us with an insider’s perspective on the disciplinary matters that often arise in this high-tempo, elite unit. Kyle Meisner (Jumpmaster), a key member of our team, began her 27-year military career as an enlisted paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, serving in various roles, including driver and warehouse clerk, from 1996 to 2000. Her firsthand experience as a grunt in this division provides us with a ground-level understanding of the operational pressures, unit culture, and chain-of-command dynamics that can influence disciplinary issues, ranging from minor infractions to complex investigations. This perspective is invaluable when crafting defenses for soldiers facing Article 15 non-judicial punishment, command-directed investigations, or other adverse actions unique to the rigorous standards of the 82nd.

Beyond personal service within the division, our team has held pivotal legal positions that intersect with 82nd Airborne Division disciplinary matters. We’ve served as Brigade Judge Advocate for units, including the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team (Jalalabad), during Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) VIII with the 82nd Airborne Division Headquarters (Bagram Air Base), advising commanders on Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) matters, administrative actions, and operational law during combat deployments. Roles such as Trial Counsel (Prosecutor) and Administrative Law Attorney for XVIII Airborne Corps, which oversee the 82nd, have equipped us to handle courts-martial, separations, and GOMOR rebuttals specific to the division’s soldiers.

Additionally, Will M. Helixon (Parachutist), our founder with over 31 years of legal experience, directly advised the 82nd Airborne Division on two of the most high-profile cases in recent military history during his temporary deployment to Kandahar, Afghanistan, in 2012 as a Special Victim Prosecutor. In the case of United States v. BG Jeffrey Sinclair, a former deputy commander of the 82nd, Will provided critical legal guidance on charges involving adultery, inappropriate relationships, and allegations of sexual assault, ultimately leading to Sinclair’s guilty plea on lesser charges in a 2014 court-martial at Fort Bragg. In the tragic Danny Chen suicide case, involving multiple soldiers from the 82nd, Will advised on initial evidence and witness interviews related to charges of hazing, negligent homicide, and maltreatment that led to PVT Chen’s death in 2011, a case that drew national attention to racial harassment and unit discipline issues within the division.

Will M. Helixon also emerged as a key defender in the high-profile court-martial of SGT Bowe Bergdahl at Fort Bragg referred by the U.S. Army Forces Command. As part of the United States v. Bowe Bergdahl defense team, Will actively shaped strategy during multiple pretrial motions, fiercely challenging unlawful command influence from prominent political figures, including Senator John McCain. In a pivotal 2016 hearing, Helixon questioned General Robert B. Abrams, pressing on external biases, a move that reinforced defense motions to protect judicial integrity. Listed on the Bergdahl Docket, his strategic input on motions addressing systemic bias was critical. With a legacy of advising on landmark cases, such as U.S. v. BG Jeffrey Sinclair, Helixon’s combat-tested insight and trial advocacy fortified Bergdahl’s defense against desertion charges. His relentless commitment exemplifies why service members trust the Law Office of Will M. Helixon. These landmark cases underscore our ability to navigate the most complex and sensitive disciplinary matters with strategic precision.

The 82nd Airborne Division’s unique operational tempo—often involving rapid global deployments, intense training cycles, and high-visibility missions—can lead to disciplinary challenges distinct from other units, such as allegations of misconduct under stress, AWOL during deployment cycles, or violations of good order and discipline in combat zones. Our Fort Bragg Military Attorneys, including retired Major Cadman Kiker (Parachutist), who runs our Fort Bragg office, and Matthew Krause (Parachutist), a retired Colonel who served as Deputy Staff Judge Advocate for XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg, have the expertise to address these issues head-on. Whether it’s defending against accusations tied to combat-related stress, navigating the fallout of unit-level hazing or maltreatment allegations, or protecting your rights during a separation board, we understand the 82nd’s culture of excellence and the pressure to maintain readiness. Our roles as Civilian Defense Counsel, Chief of Military Justice, and Deputy Staff Judge Advocate (DSJA) across Fort Bragg units ensure that we can counter command overreach and secure fair outcomes for paratroopers.

When you’re an 82nd Airborne Division soldier facing disciplinary action, you need a legal team that knows your world—not just the law, but the life of a paratrooper ready to jump into action at a moment’s notice. The Warrior Law Team at the Law Office of Will M. Helixon is that team. With our unparalleled experience in the 82nd and a track record of success in high-profile cases, we’re prepared to fight for you with the same airborne spirit you embody. Don’t let a disciplinary matter derail your career—contact us today for a confidential consultation. What makes the Warrior Law Team Fort Bragg Military Lawyers unique in defending sexual assault allegations at Fort Bragg?

When facing sexual assault allegations at Fort Bragg, the Warrior Law Team at the Law Office of Will M. Helixon stands as your unparalleled defense, offering a unique blend of specialized expertise, proven success, and deep-rooted connection to the Fort Bragg community. As Fort Bragg Military Lawyers, our Warrior Law Team collectively brings over 245 years of legal experience, having tried over 366 contested courts-martial and 217 separation boards, with a specific focus on navigating the complex and high-stakes nature of sexual assault cases under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). Our 18 combined years of service at Fort Bragg or with its deployed units—spanning XVIII Airborne Corps, 82nd Airborne Division, and special operations commands like 1st SFC in the 528th Sustainment Brigade—ensure we understand the local command climate and operational pressures that often frame these allegations, making us uniquely equipped to defend you with precision and resolve.

Our Fort Bragg Military Lawyers possess an unmatched depth of knowledge in sexual assault defense, drawn from critical roles within the military justice system. Team members, including Will M. Helixon, have served as former Special Victim Prosecutors, giving us insider insight into the strategies and tactics of the Office of Special Trial Counsel (OSTC), which prosecutes sexual assault cases independently of the chain of command. This dual perspective—having prosecuted and defended sexual assault cases—is complemented by the team member’s experience as Special Victim Counsel, Chief of Training for the U.S. Trial Defense Service, and even a retired U.S. Army Trial Judge, ensuring we anticipate every angle of the government’s case while crafting robust defenses. Will M. Helixon’s analysis in a YouTube video highlights the critical need to challenge inconsistencies in accuser statements, leverage forensic evidence, and expose investigative biases—strategies we employ to dismantle weak cases before they reach trial.

Our track record speaks volumes. In the first half of 2025, Will M. Helixon successfully “killed” two high-profile sexual assault cases in other jurisdictions after they were preferred for trial. In one, a Major accused of multiple specifications of sexual assault of a child saw charges dismissed during a hotly contested Article 32 investigation due to exposed evidentiary gaps. In another, a Specialist charged with multiple counts of rape benefited from a joint interview revealing critical inconsistencies and bias in the alleged victim’s account, leading the OSTC to lose confidence in her story and dismiss the case. Over the past

two years, we’ve secured multiple acquittals in fully litigated sexual assault cases and negotiated creative plea agreements sparing clients from the lifelong burden of sex offender registration. These outcomes reflect our relentless approach to pretrial investigations, witness interviews, and strategic motions tailored to the current judicial environment.

Based in Fort Bragg, our team—led by Cadman Kiker in Pinehurst, with Kyle Meisner, Matt Krause, Treb Courie, and Will M. Helixon—understands the specific challenges soldiers face here, from rapid deployment stress to unit dynamics that can complicate allegations. With roles like Trial Counsel, Brigade Judge Advocate, and Deputy SJA for XVIII Airborne Corps, we’ve handled cases under Fort Bragg’s intense scrutiny, ensuring your defense accounts for local nuances. Facing sexual assault charges can threaten your career, freedom, and reputation—don’t face it alone. Contact the Law Office of Will M. Helixon today for a confidential consultation. How do the Warrior Law Team Fort Bragg Military Lawyers navigate military investigations like CID or IG inquiries at Fort Bragg?

When facing military investigations such as those conducted by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID), Inspector General (IG), Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), or Office of Special Investigations (OSI) at Fort Bragg, the Warrior Law Team at the Law Office of Will M. Helixon offers unmatched expertise as your Fort Bragg Military Lawyers. With over 245 years of collective legal experience, including 165 years of active-duty service and decades in the reserves and National Guard, our team has served a combined 18 years at Fort Bragg or with its deployed units, such as the XVIII Airborne Corps, 82nd Airborne Division, and 1st Special Forces Command. We’ve advised over 6,720 clients, reviewed thousands of investigations, and conducted independent defense inquiries that go deeper than standard probes. Our mission is to protect your career and honor by dismantling flawed government investigations with precision and tenacity, right here at Fort Bragg.

Our Fort Bragg Military Lawyers approach investigations with a comprehensive strategy, leveraging roles as former prosecutors, defense counsel, administrative law attorneys, Staff Judge Advocates (SJAs), Deputy SJAs, and even from the perspective of a retired U.S. Army Trial Judge. This 360-degree view means we have no blind spots when scrutinizing CID, IG, NCIS, or OSI investigations at Fort Bragg. We don’t accept conventional answers or excuses; instead, we conduct independent defense investigations, looking further and more thoroughly than law enforcement to uncover overlooked or ignored evidence. As highlighted by Will M. Helixon in a YouTube analysis, we focus on identifying procedural errors, challenging investigator bias, and exposing gaps in evidence collection—tactics that often shift the narrative in your favor before adverse actions are taken.

A critical decision in any investigation at Fort Bragg is the degree of cooperation with investigators, who often aim to prove guilt rather than conduct impartial inquiries. This includes whether to provide a sworn statement. Our Fort Bragg team, including Cadman Kiker (Fort Bragg office lead), Kyle Meisner, Matt Krause, Treb Courie, and Will M. Helixon, guides you through this dilemma with strategic counsel. Over the last year, we’ve conducted several independent defense investigations, drafting detailed defense reports that are submitted to law enforcement, which they must include in their final findings. This shapes the investigation and establishes a counter-narrative. In eight instances, we successfully convinced law enforcement to find “no probable cause,” thereby preventing adverse actions and securing the expungement of CID titling decisions that can linger in records for decades.

Our success is reflected in the clients we’ve defended during investigations. A field grade officer, cleared of allegations in a European theater, praised Will M. Helixon’s thorough investigation, noting, “Will jumped on a plane, interviewed witnesses, visited the alleged crime scene, took photos, and proved the allegations weren’t feasible… without him, I wouldn’t be here today”. Another senior officer client, facing a career-threatening inquiry, stated, “Will and his team fought like it was their own career on the line, providing comfort and legal strategy that changed everything”. These testimonials reflect our relentless commitment to Fort Bragg soldiers. Additionally, Will M. Helixon’s expertise is so respected that the U.S. Army CID has sought him as a civilian defense counsel to provide investigative and legal training to CID agents, showcasing his profound understanding of the investigative process from the defense perspective.

Whether it’s a CID probe into misconduct, an IG inquiry into command issues, or NCIS/OSI investigations affecting joint personnel at Fort Bragg, our Fort Bragg Military Lawyers—having served as Trial Counsel, Chief of Military Justice, and Brigade Judge Advocate—know how to dismantle government cases by exposing flaws in methodology and evidence. We’ve represented soldiers pending investigations at Fort Bragg, ensuring your rights are protected from the start. Don’t let an investigation derail your future—contact the Law Office of Will M. Helixon today for a confidential consultation. Schedule online or call now; we’re ready to fight for you with the same dedication you bring to the mission.

How can the Warrior Law Team Fort Bragg Military Lawyers assist with domestic violence charges under Article 128b UCMJ at Fort Bragg?

Facing domestic violence charges under Article 128b of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) at Fort Bragg can be a devastating blow to your career, reputation, and personal life. Enacted on January 1, 2019, Article 128b identifies domestic violence explicitly as a distinct offense against spouses, intimate partners, or immediate family members, ensuring convictions are reported to national databases under the Lautenberg Amendment, which prohibits firearm

possession for those convicted. Previously, such cases were often miscategorized under broader assault provisions, such as Article 128, leading to underreporting and inconsistent accountability. As Fort Bragg Military Lawyers, the Warrior Law Team at the Law Office of Will M. Helixon stands as your strongest defense, wielding over 245 years of collective legal experience, including 165 years of active-duty service, to challenge these allegations with strategic precision. Our 18 combined years of service at Fort Bragg or with its deployed units—such as XVIII Airborne Corps, 82nd Airborne Division, and 1st Special Forces Command—equip us with an intimate understanding of the local military culture and command dynamics, ensuring a defense tailored to your unique circumstances at this critical installation.

At Fort Bragg, the military’s intense scrutiny of domestic violence, reserving cases to the Office of Special Trial Counsel (OSTC) and escalating investigations involving strangulation to CID, NCIS, or OSI, means even minor accusations can rapidly escalate, often taking on a life of their own. We recognize the profound strain on military families here, where the high operational tempo, long hours, field exercises, and sudden deployments characteristic of units like the 82nd Airborne Division create fertile ground for misunderstandings or exaggerated claims. Add to this the potential for transitional compensation incentives during divorce or custody disputes, and unfounded allegations can persist in fractured relationships. Having represented hundreds of service members facing such accusations, our Fort Bragg Military Lawyers, including Cadman Kiker (Fort Bragg office lead), Kyle Meisner, Matt Krause, Treb Courie, and Will M. Helixon, draw on their diverse backgrounds, including roles such as Trial Counsel, Brigade Judge Advocate, and Deputy SJA, to dissect these cases. We separate fact from fiction by employing experts to scrutinize medical records and alleged injuries, while probing for ulterior motives and bias to expose inflated or unsupported claims, ensuring the truth emerges.

Our investigative approach is relentless and unparalleled. With over 6,720 clients advised and thousands of investigations reviewed, we conduct independent defense inquiries that delve deeper than standard CID or MPI probes at Fort Bragg, rejecting conventional narratives and uncovering overlooked or ignored evidence. We’ve represented soldiers pending domestic violence investigations locally, guiding them through the critical decision of how much to cooperate with investigators, often biased toward proving guilt. In the last year, we defended half a dozen soldiers facing involuntary separation for domestic violence allegations, securing retention or honorable discharges in all but one case. Our experience as prosecutors, defense counsel, administrative law attorneys, SJAs, DSJAs, and from the bench ensures a comprehensive perspective with no overlooked details, allowing us to critically dismantle government investigations by exposing procedural flaws, inconsistent testimony, and evidentiary gaps. This multi-faceted expertise enables us to anticipate every move by OSTC or CID, crafting counter-narratives that protect your future.

Client testimonials highlight our unwavering commitment to defending against domestic violence charges. Sergeant Christopher Oty, stationed in Germany, faced charges of domestic violence and strangulation, and shared, “I felt upset… I was not allowed to tell my side of the story… Will made sure that no one was just saying things without any sort of facts behind them… there is a lot more to your side of the story than the military might make it seem to believe,” reflecting how we ensure your narrative is heard and substantiated. Sergeant First Class Gerald Turner, facing administrative separation for domestic violence and DUI, noted, “Will talked me off the ledge… each time I felt overwhelmed or stressed out… he made time to actually speak to me and explain the process… he defended my case to the end,” showcasing our personal dedication and emotional support during such crises. Fort Bragg’s Namesake

Fort Bragg is named after General Braxton Bragg, born in Warrenton, North Carolina, and a graduate of West Point. He gained recognition for his role in the Mexican-American War, though he is more widely remembered for serving as a Confederate general during the Civil War. Bragg fought in several major battles, including Shiloh, Chickamauga, and Bentonville, and was captured in 1865. After the war, he worked in engineering and as a railroad inspector in Texas. He died in Galveston in 1876 at the age of 59.

Origins of Fort Bragg

Established in 1918, Fort Bragg in North Carolina is one of the biggest U.S. Army installations around the globe. The base encompasses four counties: Moore, Harnett, Cumberland, and Hoke.  Originally established to serve as an artillery training ground, the post was nearly closed after World War I. In 1940, 5400 individuals were stationed at Fort Bragg, but that number grew to 67,000 one year later. During World War II, up to 159,000 individuals were stationed there at one time.

Renaming of Fort Bragg

On June 2, 2023, Fort Bragg was redesignated as Fort Liberty to honor the enduring American value of liberty. The new name paid tribute to the heroism, sacrifice, and commitment of the Soldiers, Service Members, Civilians, and Families who live and serve on this installation.

Fort Bragg Today

In 2025, the installation was renamed Fort Bragg once again—this time in honor of Roland L. Bragg, a decorated World War II paratrooper.  Today, Fort Bragg is home to more than 52,000 active duty Soldiers and more than 12,000 Reserve Component Soldiers. With the thousands of civilian employees, contractors, and active duty family members, Fort Bragg is one of the largest military bases in the world. Fort Bragg is also the home of the Airborne and Special Operations Forces.  Current units at Fort Bragg include the 82nd Airborne Division, XVIII Airborne Corps (18th Airborne Corps), U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM), U.S. Army Reserve Command (USARC), and the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, (USASOC).

PFC Roland L. Bragg

Fort Bragg Namesake: Private First Class Roland L. Bragg

In a historic and meaningful change, the installation formerly known as Fort Liberty has been renamed Fort Bragg to honor Army Private First Class Roland L. Bragg, a courageous World War II paratrooper and Battle of the Bulge hero. Pfc. Bragg, a native of Maine, enlisted in 1943 and trained at this very installation before deploying to the European theater with the 513th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 17th Airborne Division. His dedication and sacrifice embody the spirit of service and valor that this military community holds dear.

This renaming reflects a renewed commitment to honoring the bravery and contributions of enlisted soldiers who have shaped our nation’s history. As the largest Army installation, Fort Bragg stands as a living tribute to PFC Bragg’s legacy and the countless service members who have trained, lived, and fought here. We invite you to watch the video below to learn more about this significant moment and the inspiring story behind the name.
